Melting and boiling point: - Precious metals have generally high shedding and boiling points. Density: - Almost all of the metals possess high density.

Reaction with oxygen: --

A lot of the metals form respective metal oxides when react with oxygen.

Examples:

(1) Result of potassium with oxygen: - Potassium metal forms potassium oxide when reacts with oxygen.

(2) Result of sodium with oxygen: - Sodium material forms salt oxide when ever reacts with oxygen.

Lithium, potassium, sodium, and so forth are called alkali metals. Alkali metals react strongly with oxygen. (3) Reaction of magnesium steel with air: - Magnesium metal gives magnesium o2 when acts with fresh air. Magnesium burned with stunning light in air and produces large amount of heat.

(4) Reaction of aluminium material with oxygen: Aliminium material does not behave with oxygen at area temperature but it gives aluminium oxide the moment burnt in air.

(5) Reaction of zinc metallic with oxygen: Zinc does not react with oxygen in room temp. But it gives zinc o2 when heated strongly in air.

(6) Result of Iron material with fresh air: Iron does not react with oxygen for room temp. But when flat iron is heated up strongly in air, it gives iron o2.

Iron fillings provide sprinkle in flame when ever burnt.

(7) Reaction of copper material with air: Copper would not react with oxygen in room temp but when burnt off in air, it gives copper mineral oxide.

Reaction of precious metals with water:

Metals form respective metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas the moment react with water.

All alloys do not behave with drinking water. Alkali metals react strenuously with water. Examples:

(1) Reaction of sodium metal with water: Sodium steel forms salt hydroxide and liberates hydrogen gas along with lots of heat once reacts with water.

(2) Reaction of potassium steel with water: Potassium steel forms potassium hydroxide and liberates hydrogen gas along with wide range of heat once reacts with water.

(3) Reaction of calcium metallic with water: Calcium varieties calcium hydroxide along with hydrogen gas and heat when acts with normal water.

(4) Reaction of magnesium metal with water: Magnesium (mg) metal acts with normal water slowly and forms magnesium hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Once steam is usually passed above magnesium material, magnesium oxide and hydrogen gas are formed.

(5) Result of aluminium material with water: Reaction of aluminum metal with cold drinking water is too sluggish to enter notice. But when...
