 Fifth Kid Doris Lessing Essay

Interpretation and personal opinion „The Fifth Child"

To my thoughts this book written by Doris Lessing is very hard to understand. " The 5th Child” is an extremely controversial history. It is of a young couple and its five children. Harriet and David want to have a huge family and everything is perfect. That they live happily together although they have financial difficulties. Relatives life is somewhat busy although everything goes its way until Ben – the fifth child – comes into the world. Ben includes a very aggressive character and he is psychologically and psychologically handicapped. A kid who can not be socialized and so in the end his behaviour is in charge of the destruction of the whole family.

Doris Lessing plays with her readers' emotions and their traditional opinions concerning children and relatives life.

On the whole children are thought to be nice people who can easily be be loved. But actuality shows a different sort of picture. Just about every family the actual experience that children usually are always simple to handle although Ben inside the " The Fifth Child” is really a huge – a person creature packed with aggression and violence and there is no way to improve his change his conduct - a nightmare for every family.

Doris Lessing shows us that it is difficult to integrate a lot of human beings in society. There are plenty of reasons why children / people are socially and emotionally disturbed and it is obvious that they generate many concerns for their cultural surrounding as well as society.

" How can society treat these impaired people within a human method? ” or " What can contemporary society do to be able to support father and mother by talking about handicapped kids? ” or " How can they always be integrated into cultural life? ” or " What are the reasons why people are impaired? " Can you really find solutions for their challenges? " What is needed to make them?

Lessing tells us that society is rather unable to handle these challenges and the...
