Religious beliefs played a significant factor in the colonization of the New World as the main reason for the founding of New England was the search for spiritual freedom. The religious freedoms sought by colonists in the New World included freedom through the Anglican Cathedral of Great britain, freedom to worship God in a Puritanical manner, and the freedom of each church to separately govern itself as well as its membership. Independence from the Anglican Church was obviously a highly inspiring factor in the colonization in the New World for the reason that majority of the founders of the New World had been in good disagreement with religious practices of the Anglican Church, also called the Cathedral of Great britain. One main complaint in the New World creators was that the Anglican Cathedral too carefully resembled the Catholic House of worship and its techniques. The Anglican Church was organized very similarly to the Catholic House of worship in that there was a hierarchy of bishops and archbishops that ruled the church buildings across Britain as a whole, and there was an absence of insight in the church people as far as chapel service framework or changes were included.
