Throughout the passage, a lot is unveiled about the dynamic of Eddie and Beatrice's relationship. From the start, Eddie's unveiled as a domineering and demanding identity in the romance (unsurprisingly as most men looked as major at this time) when he exclaims, 'I need my admiration! '. The exclamation mark puts focus on the order thus furthering his hooligan portrayal. Despite this, this could as well invoke that Beatrice is definitely someone who can be dismissive and hard for connecting with as he is having to shout to get his point his across. Beatrice furthers the interpretation of her inferiority when your woman asks 'what more do you need? '. Ignoring the fact that she has already done what Eddie experienced requested -- 'I performed what you want', she is even now wanting to fulfill his reasonless dissatisfaction therefore telling the reader that within their relationship, the girl with at his every beck and call, despite irrational conduct from Eddie. On the other hand, this may interpreted being a sardonic announc by Beatrice as she is fed up of Eddie's deluded ideas. In comparison, this would signify their romance is not as one sided because Beatrice shows spine and is not really milquetoast. This interpretation can be further reinforced when Eddie says 'I don't like it! The way you talk to me and the approach you look for me'. This kind of brings into light that Eddie, irrationally, takes on the role with the victim inside the relationship. Repeating of the exclamation mark means that this is a characteristic of their conversing instead of an abnormality. When Eddie 'moves about biting his lip' that implies that he could be anxious and inattentive. This could also claim that the relationship is merely made up of an unrequited love from Beatrice due to Eddie's infatuation and sub-conscious like for his niece, Catherine. Eddie attempts to convince Beatrice that 'the guy isn't right' which suggests that he values her opinion...
